Wright Busching- Church Planter/Pastor
Wright Busching was ordained and installed as the church planter and pastor of University Presbyterian Church in June of 2022. He and his family moved to Tampa in August of 2022 to begin the work of establishing a new church in the Tampa area near the University of South Florida.
Wright was born and raised in Jackson, MS. He came to faith in college through the ministry of RUF at Ole Miss in 2004. He graduated from Ole Miss in 2008 with a B.A. in History. After college, Wright coached college basketball at Jackson State University from 2008-2012. In 2012, Wright transitioned to coaching high school basketball at Jackson Academy where he also served as an associate athletic director until 2017. During his time at Jackson Academy, Wright also obtained a M.S. in Sport Management from the University of Southern Mississippi.
In 2013, Wright went through officer training at Redeemer Church (PCA) in Jackson, MS and was ordained as a deacon. It was during this time, that he began to sense a call to full-time vocational ministry. After several years of testing the Lord's call, Wright became the Director of Youth Ministries at Redeemer Church (PCA) in Jackson, MS. While serving at Redeemer, Wright studied at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS where he received a Master of Divinity in May 2022.
Wright was excited to accept the call to plant a new church in Tampa. He loves studying and preaching God's Word, visiting with people, and evangelism. In his free time, Wright loves reading, the NBA, Ole Miss football, Chicago Cubs baseball, the beach, and spending time with his family.
Wright and Elizabeth were married in 2010. Elizabeth is originally from Dallas, TX and attended Davidson College. She then served as an RUF intern at Ole Miss before getting her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson in 2010. She has served as a licensed counselor since 2010 and has owned her own practice since 2017. Wright and Elizabeth have two daughters- Caroline (2014) and Marian (2017)- who are both excited about living in Tampa!
